Meet Cameron Peterson, and can we just say, a more likeable lad you will not find. Unbeknownst to some, Cameron started out as a talented middle distance runner, and then decided to trying his hand at road cycling, going on to collect a bunch of awesome achievements, including but not limited to: NSW Hill Climb Champion, VIC Road Champion, numerous stage races in the US and Australia, multiple day leader in Tour of Tasmania and KOM winner at Herald Sun Tour. Cameron formally rode for Drapac. He is also quite the Strava legend owning many of Sydneys premier KOM's, ridden solo, which even bunches have not been able to take from him.
Not that you would ever know any of this however, the guy is so humble and never talks about his achievements. We had to deploy advanced extraction methods to get these details for you.
What are you training for?
For me it's more about getting back to racing. I've had a long running injury to both my knees that is (fingers crossed) finally turning around.
What does a training week look like for you?
I'll hit the gym for strength work on a regular basis with Boutagy Fitness. Focusing mainly on the knees and related muscles but also in the core. On top of this I'll be out on the bike doing a mixture of commuting and the occasional effort. It's all about doing just enough to not disturb the recovery to the knees.
What has been your hardest training session to date?
